John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched a lot of people with his songs. Most of his songs were inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have been a major influence on many to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its initial member in the year 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many across the globe. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, someone who is from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff composed the track in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear the song's early versions and was aware that it would become one of the Top 10 hits. The track was released just two weeks following that Washington D.C. performance.
